Rikhi Ram Bone Necklace Sitar

We were lucky to acquire this sitar(as well as as many others), from El Maestro Tony Karasek, he has exquisite taste in vintage Indian instruments
According to Tony, the gold badge would put this sitar somewhere in the later 50's to early 60's, ghandar pancham sitars from the shop from that era are highly sought after.

The bone necklace on this sitar is a feature until recently only seen on vintage Rikhi Ram sitars. The tabli has an unusal profile to it, thus allowing for a very distictive sound.

Although there is no carving on the tumba, the addition of a bone necklace on the back is a nice touch. I also like the fact you can see the natural gourd, there is nothing to hide on this instrument.
